ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS: Kinfara Travel has arranged partnerships with Ugandan owned accommodation and meal services. For the bulk of your trip, you will be staying in the Mabira Village Bed and Breakfast, which offers clean and safe dormitory style facilities complete with flushing Western toilets, showers, and beds with mosquito nets. For the last night of your trip, you will stay in a safari camp, onsite at Murchison Falls National Park, where camp showers and toilets will also be available. Your breakfasts and dinners will be provided through onsite cooks at your lodgings, who will provide both Western and Ugandan options. You’ll still get the chance to try traditional Ugandan dishes during the day when you eat lunches provided by the communities you will be visiting.
Pick up
Get picked up from the Entebbe airport by our personal driver, who will transport you to Mabira Village dorms, your home away from home located right on the edge of the beautiful rainforest. This drive takes approximately 2.5 hours.
day 1
Head to the home of the Source of the Nile River for a ceramics workshop. After the class, enjoy a bike ride through the village.
day 2
Meet a Ugandan community leader who helps local youth and adults cope with challenges through art therapy. Then enjoy your own therapeutic boat ride on the Nile.
Day 3
Visit a community that has taken activism into their own hands by creating a support group for widows, orphans, and HIV/AIDS victims. After lunch, get ready to learn an ancient Ugandan tradition.
Day 4
Prepare to be inspired by a few local entrepreneurs who just qualified for the 2020 Paralympics, and who are saving the environment one clay stove at a time.
Day 5
Get in touch with nature as you accompany an expert herbalist on a nature walk to identify healing plants and barks. After your forest trek, relax while enjoying a dance troupe that specializes in traditional tribal dances.
Day 6
Meet a family in a far out village who has been in the business of making traditional Ugandan musical instruments for over 60 years!
Day 7
Visit one of the pioneers of cow horn craftsmanship in Uganda, an ethical alternative to poached elephant tusks and rhino horns. Then take a few hours to enjoy some free time browsing the many shops on the main street of Jinja.
Day 8
Get to know an incredible co-op of women who create fair trade jewelry for an international customer base. After lunch, get ready to leave for the safari camp!
Day 9
Wake up bright and early to go on a safari game drive through the beautiful Murchison Falls National Park. After lunch, head out on a boat safari and hike to the top of Murchison Falls.
Day 10
Head to the airport while daydreaming about the incredible things you have experienced and wonderful new friends you have met.
